Ores such as lead, zinc, manganese, iron, and fluorspar sometimes liberate at a coarse mesh and can be treated by jigging to produce a high grade concentrate and/or a clean tailing that can be discarded. The Kani Karan Asia (Harz Type) Plunger Jig is used for deter­mining the feasibility of coarse jigging. The unit consists of a metal hutch, two removable concentrate compartments with different size screens, adjustable eccentric for varying the stroke of the plunger and vari-pitch pulleys for speed changes. Entire assembly is mounted on a steel base. Usual procedure is to pre-screen the crushed feed to remove fines and then jig the oversize. The high specific gravity concentrate accumulates in the screen compartment and is periodically collected by removing and cleaning the compart­ment.
